The bulk of the collection comprises newspaper clippings, including press references to Cameron and material concerning socialism, communism, social credit, inflation, conscription, the gold standard and other issues. There are journals, pamphlets and other issues. There are journals, pamphlets and other publications including international, local socialist writings, publications and memoirs. Also typescripts of speeches and articles, together with notes. Some correspondence, mainly for 1930-1931, and miscellaneous personal papers.

Became Secretary of the Victorian Socialist Party in 1919, held office as President of the Victorian A.L.P. and the Melbourne Trades Hall Council. In 1937 he was elected to the Senate, where he was Postmaster-General and Deputy Leader of the Government from 1945-1949. He retired in 1962.
